This is where when you have an idea, either you immediately start it right then and there, or note it in a checklist you regularly complete. This prevents your idea from getting sucked into “one day I’ll….” purgatory and gives it a powerful chance to manifest.

Blog: Why We Need This Force Called ‘Time’

I heard something interesting about the concept of time. The Infinite Source, or God, or The Spirit, whatever you call It, implemented time in this plane so that manifestation doesn’t  happen immediately.

What kind of sense does that make, right? Well let me explain. Suppose you and a buddy get into a heated argument. Let’s say this is in a plane where time doesn’t exist, and thus the idea of “instant manifestation.” You guys throw around some choice words, one thing leads to another, and he says to you, “GOD I wish you were dead!!”

Presto. You’re dead. Instant manifestation.

Time allows us the chance to rethink our decisions. To weigh benefits and consequences. To reflect. To decide, then put forth action to make it happen, before it happens.

This is why you have to be sure of what you want. Then, when you decide what you want, commit to it. Use the force of time wisely and put forth the effort through action to manifest and make it happen while also being highly mindful of your desires as well…


How Meditation Can Help You Be You

The Power of Meditation Is Gaining Traction

Meditation is one of the best ways to re-center yourself and calm the mind. Today, America is seeing a huge rise in the popularity of meditation. Not only are individuals taking up the practice to heal the mind, body and soul, but employers are as well.

Our world is becoming increasingly fast-paced every day. We’re at a point in time where if you’re caught slipping and you slow down, you’re bound to get left behind, especially in a capitalistic America.

Many people claim this fast-paced society as their reason meditation can’t fit in their schedule. Even more disheartening as that many people think you need to believe the power of meditation in order to reap their benefits, which is simply untrue. Too many people get discouraged when they believe they’re incorrectly meditating. A few of the common reasons I hear either from people who won’t try meditation or have stopped altogether:

  • Thinking too much during meditation
  • Not enough time to get into a trance
  • Don’t have the space
  • Don’t know how
  • Believe it’s nonsense

These are just several reasons I’ve heard as to why people don’t or won’t meditate. It’s a shame, because with education and proper guidance, meditation can change your life and even help you not just keep up in this fast-paced world, but thrive. Here are just few ways meditation can benefit you in your life.

It Keeps You Focused

As you know, single-point focus is a critical element to success. Many of the highly successful cite having razor-sharp focus as a major reason for their triumphs. Thankfully, some meditation techniques are specifically tailored for focus. One common technique to hold your focus is to key in on your breathing. Tune in to the ups and downs of your breathe while allowing all thoughts to drift without judgement. Don’t worry about having too busy of a mind; your mind is just doing what it is programmed to do. The key is not giving any weight to those thoughts and reverting your focus right back to your breathing.

It Helps You Become More Decisive

Because meditation forces you to redirect your mind, you’re able to see things more clearly and make better decisions. The practice of contemplation meditation forces you to allow you to intentionally “notice” your thoughts for a few milliseconds without putting any emotion or actions to them. Doing this gives you clarity by allowing you to observe your many different thoughts as they enter and leave your conscious, rather than holding on to one or a few thoughts and giving them weight for an extended period of time, preventing you from moving onto an even potentially better solution.

Your Mood and Emotions Will Be Easier To Control

Studies show that meditation releases the feel-good hormones melatonin, serotonin, endorphins, and GABA (the “calm chemical”) while also decreasing your body’s cortisol (the “stress hormone”) levels. What this means is regularly meditating for even ten minutes a day can reduce stress, boost happiness, and earn you better night’s sleep, and we’re all aware of how impactful sleep is to our mood!

A less moody and emotional you is more productive, energetic you. All the more reason to find some time in your day to meditate.

Finding The Time For Meditation

In the morning, try these three things:

  1. Wake up about 15-30 minutes earlier than you usually do.
  2. Brush your teeth, wash your face, then find a comfortable place where you won’t fall asleep.
  3. Before you get out of your pajamas and into your work clothes, sit down and meditate for at least 10 minutes, focusing solely on your breathing pattern. Even if it’s just 5 minutes, that conscious time without thinking can be enough to keep out negative thoughts as they come up throughout the day.

If your mornings are too rushed and you just can’t find the time, try finding a quiet space during your lunch hour to sit quietly for 5-10 minutes, breathe, and just be. Over time and extended practice, you’ll find it easier to focus on your tasks while not succumbing to distractions. This benefit from meditation alone is a major reason many large corporations are employing holistic health professionals to incorporate meditation into their workplace as part of larger corporate wellness picture.

Bottom Line: Meditation is Catching Steam for a Reason

At the beginning of the millennia meditation was still widely confined to a few, with medical studies just beginning to rise and confirm its benefits. Now, with the science and testimonials backing it, the Western World is finally waking up to the wonderful and healthy benefits meditating. 3 Common Distractions Towards Success And How To Eliminate Them

Every day we are bombarded with distractions that keep us from achieving our goals in the time we set them out for. Some distractions, like family, roommates, and the inner circle, are unavoidable and require tact to work through. Others, like the internet, are completely avoidable and just takes a high degree of self-control to conquer. Here are three common distractions that keep us from achieving our goals and how we can work through or around them to accomplish what we set out to do.

1. The Internet

The internet is the event horizon of a black hole: once you’ve reached a certain point, there’s no coming back. In terms of distractions, what that means is once you’ve allowed a certain amount of negative or useless material into your mind, you’re doomed to be pulled into a vortex of negativity and unproductivity the rest of the day.

Keep in mind that negativity and unproductivity are two different things. Negativity can lead to unproductivity, but positive experiences, such as getting online with friends for games during a time designated for self-development, is also unproductive.

Social media, Facebook in particular, is usually the culprit for wasted time. It’s scrolling interface, content variety, and mass appeal make it nearly impossible to stay away from for more than twenty four hours. YouTube is a close second, with endless video and streaming content making it too easy to get sucked into for hours.

Although it’ll take an astounding degree of self-control, avoiding social media is indeed possible. The key is organization. Set time away specifically for social media. Doing so and sticking to your schedule keeps you from constantly scrolling the internet throughout the day, throwing away countless productive hours. I usually set my time to check social media in between my first work session (30-minute break) and two hours before bedtime.

2. Your Job

We often tend to bring our troubles from work home with us. On-the-job worries such as deadlines and difficult bosses and co-workers can make leaving work at work easier said than done. However, it’s still critical to your peace and productivity to check all of your problems at the office door.

To help with this, try meditation. Meditation helps you move beyond thought without putting weight to it. At work, of course you have to think about the work you’re doing. But when you’re off the clock and driving home, let all thoughts of work loose and focus instead on the good that’s on your way home. Think about that idea you’re now able to dig deeper into, or the chapter of that self-development book you’re able to finish.

Even if it’s just for five minutes, at least give your mind the chance to get away from your job. If your 9-5 is not a bigger part of your future, ask yourself why you’re stressing so hard. If it is, understand that worrying literally does nothing but take you away from the present moment, robbing you of any opportunity to come up with a solution. If it’s that important, stay at work and take care of it or come home, give yourself a breather, then finish it at home. If not, set away an hour of “worry” time two hours before bed and direct the rest of your time towards productivity and being in the moment.

3. Your Home Life

Whether you’re a father and trying to juggle children, a husband/boyfriend needing to please his other half, or you have multiple roommates working different hours of the day, home distractions can be a major factor in any road blocks towards your goals. It’s the trickiest of distractions of all to handle because they involve loved ones or ones in your inner circle.

Regardless of relationship, boundaries are critical. Without them, miscommunication occurs, leading to confusion, hurt feelings, frustration, and anger among all parties involved. What you should do is establish “You” time where nothing or no one is allowed to penetrate your wall of concentration. Outside of children and emergencies, that time is reserved for you and should be treated as if you’re punched in at work and on the clock. Friends and family should know not to interrupt you during these hours. If they don’t, you’ll either need to be more firm establishing your boundaries or you’ll need to find somewhere more productive to work where your time and efforts are more respected.

Bottom Line: Distractions happen, but we have a choice how we handle them.

Distractions are going to occur. They’re inevitable as a matter of fact. The key to your own success and happiness, however, is what you choose to do with distractions. You can either succumb to them or overcome them. The choice is all yours. It just takes some guidance and remarkable self-control to achieve.

Vitamin Voyager: Intro To Plant-Based Bodybuilding Portion of Mind-Body-Soul Program

Hey everyone! I know it’s been a while since I’ve posted, but I’ve been modifying my posts to fit the goal of VVN.

In this video, I talk about my 8-Week bodybuilding workout I created years ago while training for competition back in my Air Force days. Now, as a certified Holistic Health Coach with over 100 credits of nutrition and wellness-related courses from Arizona State under my belt, I’ve tweaked my workout to include a more science-backed, plant-based diet with heavy emphasis on breathing and tuning into your body. This bodybuilding routine is a key component in my 12-week Mind-Body-Soul program.

Along with the “body” part of my program, I’ve been putting much time into mindfulness and spiritual/inner-self practices. As I continue my research and absorb the knowledge, I add to the program, so stay tuned for A TON more exciting stuff on life-altering changes on the Vitamin Voyager Network!
